I was a communications software techie primarily on airline reservation systems from the late 60's thru to 2010 so I understand only too well the complexities and costs of data centers.
I generally believe this as well as the elections analysis. But how to invest in the alternative? And how to get the fraudsters out of elections. There seems to be no real answer except read substacks and remain frustrated.
Elections can be impacted by running real time or close to real time reconciliations of the voter rolls for every state - compared with the property tax records and change of address lists.
That removes the latency in the system where the bad actors get mail-in ballots sent to the guy who just moved or left off his APT number and that ballot goes in the undeliverable bin.
The cost of this would be about 10 cents per voter per year and it would reduce about 95% of voter roll anomalies which are the Petri dish for fraud.

Now everything can be done with low I/O and if you can run 1,000 times faster, you only need 1/1,000th the hardware and thus the power.
